Pegasus, a minor son of Poseidon and Medusa, sprang from his mothers blood and the foam of the sea – which, when it comes to chaos-spawn, is a fairly normal birth.
Raised – or tamed – by Athena, in ancient times Pegasus was often dispatched to either carry thunderbolts to Zeus or to aid young demigods in their adventures. As he brought Zeus his weapons, he brought the demigodlings theirs – and carried them into battle.
Today – at least for the time being – demigods are a great deal scarcer than they used to be, and so Pegasus has settled for seeking out those with the potential to become heroes. Unfortunately, Pegasus’s standards are just a little bit out of date; he tends to seek out “young adults” by the standards of the ancient world – by modern standards early adolescents.
This is causing quite a lot of trouble. Worse, even with a guidance-artifact, he has to interview quite a few kids to find one with suitable skills and potential. Most modern youngsters don’t know how to use a sword, or ride, or give much thought to fighting monsters.
Pegasus is actually quite dangerous: he’s had millennia of practice in getting himself, and his rider, out of the way – and can keep that up for some time (the Triggered Teleport power, which is horrendously cheesy), if he’s fighting something clumsy enough to make a full non-combat speed (3480 move with the Barding of Hermes) passing strike on he can do an incredible amount of damage – and he usually is carrying a quiver full of Zeus’s lightning bolts. While they’re not at full power for anyone but Zeus, they’re still fairly potent.
That doesn’t entirely make up for his low OCV, but then he’s a companion to heroes, not a hero in his own right.
