Champions – Master Smythe / “Agent Smith” of the Mandate

Master Smythe (“Agent Smith”) was the second emissary from the Silver Twilight and the Loa and – since “Neo” had forced open the route – had a considerably easier time reaching Earth. Unfortunately, his own internally focused reality-warping power made him considerably more vulnerable to memory distortions than “Neo” had been. He arrived none too sure of what was going on either – except that he had to locate Neo and, if he was crazy, try to restore him to sanity.

That was a tall order considering that his own sanity was not doing so well. Nevertheless, Master Smythe soon joined Neo in the Mandate, where Neo swiftly concluded that “Agent Smith” had gone renegade, and was now on his side against the machines – which was close enough to reality to pass.

Master Smythe possessed a formidable ability to enhance his own body, considerable martial arts skills, and the ability to duplicate himself. Unfortunately, all too often, his duplicates proved to be insane and uncontrollable. More often they proved to be powerless bystanders – and only about half the time did they prove to be cooperative copies. Worse, the more cooperative copies he had at the moment, the lower the chance of getting another one. All too soon Master Symthe found that his attempts to control himself (or at least his errant duplicates) were taking up virtually all of his time – and he was less and less available for missions with the Mandate.

While there are still several Master Smythes around, it’s generally believed that the “original” (if that truly means anything) chose to remain in the Silver Twilight with help in sealing that realm off from Earth – and in the final defeat of the Machines there.
