Champions – Kimai of the Mandate

What is Kimai? Kimai doesn’t know, and neither does anyone else, though ey seems to be a physically-based organism rather than an embodied spirit or something. Kimai first remembers being brought by a large gruff-looking guy into a small group of other gruff-looking guys when ey was somewhat smaller than now. There was this other gruff-looking guy who had apparently mistaken Kimai for something and implied some very gross things, so Kimai did the reasonable thing and shivved him! This apparently got Kimai a job sneaking around and doing things the large gruff-looking men couldn’t. Eventually, Kimai being who ey is, ey shivved the nasty guy controlling em and took over the whole criminal network. Yay! And eventually he will use them to take over the world, and the world will love Kimai.

Appearance: Kimai is tall, incredibly androgynous, and somehow inhumanly pretty. Ey has fluffy dark brown hair, pale skin with a light blue tinge to it, large furry pointed ears, canine claws and fangs and fuzzy digitigrade feet. Kimai has no gender. Kimai NEEDS no gender.

Kimai was one of those short-term characters that sneak in when someone gets a wild idea and will not be persuaded otherwise. The concept was in no way a superhero, had a selection of powers with no coherent theme, and wanted to work on criminal projects all alone. Throw in a complete lack of any origin, a background that made little sense in the setting, and an ongoing war to ensure that the other characters had more important things to do than to investigate obscure character origins… and you wind up with a recipe for being shrugged off. Kimai participated – to some extent – in a couple of investigative scenarios and then quietly wandered off to do something or other when the player decided to make a character than made sense. Unlike most such characters, and despite my mania for continuity, Kimai has never been picked up by another player or even made an appearance as an NPC. It probably won’t.

125+ Disadvantages
20 Distinctive Features: What The Hell Is That; Concealability: Concealable, 10; Reaction: Extreme, +10
15 Reputation: Whatever It Is, It Looks Dangerous (11-, Extreme); Kimai may get mistaken for a were-something, a demon, a godling, a fae… for some reason, what with the claws and fangs and so forth, it’s never anything good.
10 Phys. Lim.: Neuter (Infrequently, Greatly); Kimai also (has no, needs no) physical sex. This renders em incapable of siring and/or bearing kids, as well as doing various things that would lead to that.
15 Psych. Lim.: Inhuman (Very Common, Moderate); Ey functions within an emotional framework that seems to have just enough similarities to humanity to completely throw people where it’s different.
15 Psych. Lim.: Moonborn (Uncommon, Total); Kimai’s emotional state waxes and wanes roughly in tune with the moon. It also changes according to circumstance, of course, so it’s hard to tell- except during the night of the full moon, and the days immediately before and after it. During those times, ey clearly gets very mercurial and extremely emotional- and when directly *under* the full moon, ecstasy, melancholy, or fury are pretty much the only options.
10 Psychi Lim: Possessive (Common, Moderate)
13 Watched: Powers of Light and Darkness (11-); Capabilities: More Powerful, 15; Non-combat Influence: Extensive, +5; Geographical Area: Unlimited, -0; Actions: Only Watching, ×½; Punishment: Harsh, 0; Darkness seems to be winning, but you never know…
15 Secret Identity
10 Reputation: Crime Boss (8-, Extreme); Since Kimai normally does business greatly covered, most people wouldn’t recognize em while not (and vice versa). However, not everything is covered, and of course, the mannerisms and voice are the same
15 DNPC: Various Henchfolk (Normal, 14-); Skills: Useful, -5; Mostly they take care of themselves, but he still has to administrate things, make decisions, and so forth
15 Hunted: Law Enforcement (8-); Capabilities: More Powerful, 15; Non-combat Influence: Extensive, +5; Geographical Area: Limited, -5; Actions: Hunting, ×1; Punishment: Harsh, 0; This tends to happen when you’re a crime boss, you know.
10 Hunted: Dagger (8-); Capabilities: As Powerful, 10; Non-combat Influence: None, +0; Geographical Area: Unlimited, -0; Actions: Hunting, ×1; Punishment: Harsh, 0
15 Hunted: Cop Guy (11-); Capabilities: As Powerful, 10; Non-combat Influence: Extensive, +5; Geographical Area: Limited, -5; Actions: Hunting, ×1; Punishment: Harsh, 0; The old boss had relatives. One of them is this person: a crooked cop whose influence is fairly extensive. They want vengeance.
