Champions; Dr Who – Sorcerer of the Mandate

In the Emergence setting things are often a bit better – and the Dr. Who TV series chronicles the adventures of an actual person; a formidable time-traveling sorcerer in the service of the mysterious lords of time.

Of course it’s a bit less intellectual and a bit more action adventure than the real program – but the general pattern of going up against eldritch menaces scattered throughout time and space is quite recoginzable.

The good doctor has come to regret sharing so much of his story with the writers – and the folly of allowing them to pick an excellent double to play his role – but he can’t deny that the royalties have supported his adventures very nicely when he’s in the right time period.

The Doctor would have been an excellent candidate for Archmage – but his tendency to simply disappear at random put him out of the running. Fortunately, he managed to take Ling Me out of the running as well, which was a large part of what he’d really been after.

What does he look like? Well, I’ve always been partial to the Tom Baker look myself, but you can imagine whatever appearance you like. Don’t let me stop you.
