First up for today, it’s a quick Eclipse conversion for Half-Giants. Half-giants – or at least the psionic version of them – originally popped up in the Dark Sun setting. The 3.5 version of them can be found in the SRD – making them fair game for any kind of conversion or mangling you want –
-
Attribute Shift: +2 Strength, -2 Dexterity (6 CP).
-
Self-Development: +2 Constitution (12 CP).
-
Occult Sense: Low-Light Vision (6 CP).
-
Resist/Fire: +2 on all saving throws against fire spells and effects (3 CP).
-
Mana/Power Option, 1d6 only (2 CP).
-
Growth, Specialized and Corrupted/No actual bonuses, modifiers, or reach enhancements apply other than being considered one size category larger whenever this is advantagous – such as with regard to grapple, bull rush, trip, improved grab, and swallow whole – and can use weapons one size category larger without penalty. As a physical effect, this stacks with powers, abilities, and spells that change the subject’s size category. (16 CP).
-
This particular ability could also be constructed as a laundry-list of specific enhancements, as an innate enchantment with immunities to stacking limits, antimagic, and dispelling, or in a couple of other ways, or you could opt to keep the Reach and still consider it Specialized and Corrupted – but this is the easiest and quickest way to match the listed benefits and the difference in the point costs isn’t all that large, especially when it’s in a racial template.
-
-
Inherent L1 Spell (Psionic Effect): Stomp 1/Day (2 CP).
-
Immunity/Effects that specifically target Humanoids (Uncommon, Major, Epic, Specialized/character is considered a giant, and is subject to effects which target giants (12 CP).
-
Relevant SRD effects include Charm Person, Daze, Dominate Person, Enlage Person (and the Mass variant), Ghoul’s Touch, Hold Person (and the Mass variant), and Reduce Person (and the Mass variant).
-
-
This is another item which is overly expensive for it’s benefits, simply because blanket immunities are expensive, and this one is focused on a rather rare threat. If your game master is feeling generous, you could probably take “is considered a giant” as a minor privilege, or even throw it into the list of modifiers on the Growth ability as another part of its Specialiation and Corruption.
With a total cost of 59 CP, Half-Giants are a +1 ECL Race.
